Release 2.4.4 April 15, 2022: Earth View and Satellite Improvements
We have added two big enhancedment to the Earth and Satellite views since Version 2.4.0 was first released in January. First, we have added a collection of interesting satellite groupings with predefined display settings. These are on a sub-menu of the Earth/Satellites View menu.
The satellite selection and display configuration tools are very powerful, but with that power came a learning curve. The new predefined satellite displays show many interesting truths about the man-made material in orbit around the Earth and they show much of the range of display options and ideas that the software provides. We think it will make using the software more fun and easiler to learn.
Second, and most recently, we have added the ability to select any displayed satellite, via point and click, in order to display that object's detained description in the lower right corner of either the Hemispher or Full Earth view.
Finally, we have added filter options in the Satellite Selection Dialog for the object's Owner/Nation of Origin, and for the Site from which the object was launched. These two attributes have also been added to the satellite list displays and are included in the new selected Satellite Data Display.
Any new release as ambitious as Version 2.4.0 was also has opportunites for refinement and errors to fix. We have done both of these over the past three minor release. One of the most important was to speed up file loading and to address some issues that could lead to gradually degrading performance as the program runs longer and longer. All of these changes are described briefly in the Release Notes.
As always, we look forward to hearing what you think of the new version. And thanks so much for your interest and support.
