How our Windows® Licensing Works

Licensing Process.

When you register the paid version of Tidewater Planetarium, your computer will receive a license file that will allow it to execute the current full version plus any future version of the software within the same MAJOR release set. For example, if you register version 2.4.5, you will be able to run any version 2 release such as V2.9.6.

Your license is tied to the specific electronic components of the computer on which you registered your software. The license file will not work on any other computer. However, you can upgrade your computer with many new components before Tidewater Planetarium will no longer be able to recognize it at the licensed machine. If you change ALL of the electronics hardware, the license will no longer work.

To make this kind of license work, Tidewater Planetarium collects information about the electronic components on the installation machine and sends it to our registration server. HOWEVER, no identifiable data about your computer is transmitted to our server. Before transmission, the data is sent through a one-way encryption that cannot be reversed by anyone, even us. The encrypted data is used to generate the license, and even that is not retained by our servers. For this reason, we cannot reproduce your license file if it is lost by a computer crash or other event, so please save a copy of the file if you can.

How our Apple® Licensing Works

Licensing Process.

When you purchase Tidewater Planetarium on the Apple Mac App Store, the purchase process is handled by Apple under your Apple ID. No further installation or registration is required. Just download the software to your computer. We may periodically verify that you have an authorized copy when you access data updates or when you download new versions of the software to which you are entitled. Tidewater Mfg will allow you to use any future version of the software within the same MAJOR release set. For example, if you register version 2.4.5, you will be able to run any version 2 release such as V2.9.6.

Your license is tied to the specific computer on which you registered your software. The license will not work on any other device.
